English to Persian (Farsi): A Boy Named Sue General field: Art/Literary Detailed field: Poetry & Literature
Source text - English Well, my daddy left home when I was three,
and he didn't leave much to Ma and me,
just this old guitar and a bottle of booze.
Now I don't blame him because he run and hid,
but the meanest thing that he ever did was
before he left he went and named me Sue.
Translation - Persian (Farsi)
Persian (Farsi) to English: Ahmad Shamlou - The Demise Of Nazli General field: Art/Literary Detailed field: Poetry & Literature
Source text - Persian (Farsi) «-
و
Translation - English
Nazli,
Spring smiled,
and the Judas Tree bloomed.
In your old hovel, the old Jasmine opened.
Stop your surmises,
Don’t strangle with sinister death!
Being is better than dissolution, especially in this wonderful spring !
Nazli chanted silence, Proud.
Biting her own anger, her lips on fire, she smiled.
Nazli,
Speak up.Chant.
Nazli, your bird is silent, and she’s singing her own requiem !
Nazli, your silent bird is gliding around in circles !
Nazli chanted silence, Proud.
Nazli, Faded in pitch dark and collapsed.
Nazli, Shined in Sun’s lucent ray and passed.
Nazli was the Judas, bloomed, clamored: “ Winter has shattered and passed.”
Nazli, was the Jasmine, broke and shouted: “ The sun has gone dark and collapsed.”
