I'm Chris Thompson, a UK-based multilingual typesetter and translator, with over 25 years in a number of language-related jobs, trading as ThompsonText since 2008.
I specialise in DTP work in non-Latin scripts, including the right-to-left scripts of the Middle East and the complex scripts of India, using Adobe InDesign's excellent functionality for those languages. I also have extensive knowledge and experience with font and text encoding technologies, text manipulation, keyboard layout design and unusual file formats.
As well as typesetting, I can provide tailored training (small group sessions or presentations) in: • DTP for translators • Document design for translators • Translation for graphic designers • Unicode and non-Latin scripts.
In addition, I occasionally offer translation into English from French, German and Italian, focussing predominantly on technical material.
