In 2006, after writing my senior thesis on comparative translation of Natsume Souseki’s work Kokoro, I graduated from Carleton College with a bachelor’s degree in Japanese Language and Literature. While I was in college, I took a wide variety of classes in everything from religion and political science to calculus and organic chemistry.
For the past several years, I have been working professionally as a freelance translator. During this time, I've translated thousands of documents and tens of thousands of pages. I have worked in a variety of fields within the translation industry. In particular, I have translated automotive component sourcing agreements, sales plans, component specifications, contracts, electronic diagrams, the organic synthesis of a variety of compounds, patents, disaster management documents, psychological studies, clinical trials, medical device technology specifications, philosophy, religion, political science, public policy, literature, and academic journals. In the course of this work I have become very proficient with the MS Office suite and Adobe Acrobat, and I have developed an in depth knowledge of CAT tools (in particular, TRADOS 2009). Using all of these tools of the trade, I have learned how to produce a high quality product under a tight deadline. I strive for efficient excellence with each and every assignment with which I am entrusted.
