Bio

Journalist | EN>ES Translator | International Copy-Editor | Linguistic Curious

I am passionate about the study of languages and linguistic change, so I am always open to learn something new about them. As an activist of plain language, I tend to make target text clear for audiences to better unerstand the message.

I translate, edit, and proofread journalistic and outreach texts, reports, and a variety of contents focused on human rights, human development, immigration, and digital rights, always seeking to add a human rights and gender perspective on every piece.

First published literary translation:

Woolf, V. (2024). «Cuarteto de Cuerdas», en Lunes o martes. (Cosenza, E., Galán Barrera, M., Schirripa, A., Taylor Oliver, M., Navarro, R., Labastié, P., Marey Castro, C. & Alippi, J., Trans.). Ciempiés. (Original work published in 1921).

Memberships:
PLECA (Profesionales de la Lengua Española Correcta)
IAPTI (International Association of Professional Translators and Interpreters).

Events:
Speaker at IAPTI's International Conference of Translators & Interpreters (Nov 2023)
"How Activism Changed my Life and Boosted my Profession," on the professional opportunities that activism can offer to newcommers or experienced colleagues in the translation business.

Volunteering and work for Global Voices:
As a volunteer: I have been an active contributor as translator and as an author since 2012, and since 2020 I am a member of the Community Council.

As an interim regional editor: I covered a temporary position as Regional Editor for Latin America in December 2020.
This is my GV Author's profile.
