English to Portuguese: Brazilian metals, charcoal and stumpage markets
Source text - English The strong market preference for plantation charcoal was demonstrated during the 2008-2009 financial crisis. Between 2008 and 2009, MG pig iron production decreased 31% y-o-y. However, plantation charcoal consumption decreased by only 26%, while native charcoal consumption decreased by 50% (Figure 5). Perhaps most importantly, stumpage prices (the price paid for standing plantation timber) declined by only 7% (Figure 7). The native charcoal supply (along with demand from other sectors) buffered the drop in demand for plantation charcoal. Brazilian pig iron production is projected to grow by 26% in 2010, and return to pre-crisis levels in 2011 (Figure 2).
