Source text - German Kes One 3001, wie sieht der Tätowierprozess vom ersten Gespräch mit dem Kunden bis zum verheilten Tattoo aus?
Ich frage den Kunden, was er gerne hätte. Bei der Beschreibung seiner Vorstellungen versuche ich zu erfassen, was er möchte und was er für ein Mensch ist. So kann ich ungefähr einschätzen, in welche Stilrichtung es gehen soll. Bin ich mir unsicher, bitte ich ihn, Referenzmaterial mitzubringen. Oder ich lasse ihn meine Mappe anschauen, um herauszufinden, ob sich seine Vorstellungen mit meinem Stil decken, damit klar wird, ob wir zusammen arbeiten können oder nicht.
Die beim Gespräch entstandene Ideenskizze nehme ich als Notiz mit nach Hause. Am Tag des Termins stehe ich um fünf Uhr auf, mache die Zeichnung fertig und lege sie dem Kunden um 11 Uhr mit den Worten „das ist das, was wir heute machen“ auf den Tisch.
In den meisten Fällen ist dieser Prozess der effektivste und der beste, es hat bisher immer funktioniert. Dann fertige ich ein Stencil an, also die Blaupause, den Abdruck von der Zeichnung – wenn noch etwas geändert wird, mache ich das mit dem Kunden zusammen.
Ich schicke ihm vorher nichts: Wenn der Kunde eine Nacht drüber schläft, findet er immer etwas, das er ändern will, es kommt seine Meinung mit rein. Dann ist es nicht mehr das, was es ist. Die Meinung des Kunden hat an diesem Punkt nichts zu suchen, da er nicht derjenige ist, der das Tattoo macht. Er hat eine Vorstellung, und ich bin dafür da, seine Vorstellung zu bedienen mit dem, was ich verkaufen kann.
Dir ist es also sehr wichtig, deine Ideen in deinem Stil umzusetzen?
Vorzugsweise ja. Ich nehme schon Rücksicht auf den Kunden. Aber ich versuche mir so treu zu bleiben, dass es mein Strich ist, meine Farbgebung, meine Umsetzung, meine Platzierung etc.. Also der ganze Bildaufbau. Erst mache ich einen Abdruck auf der Haut. Dann folgen Linien, Schattierungen und Farbe. Danach schicke ich den Kunden mit der Bitte nach Hause, das Tattoo heiß abzuwaschen, Luft dranzulassen und es gut zu pflegen. Wenn er es nicht gut pflegt, bin ich sauer, weil meine Arbeit dann umsonst war.

I take the sketch of the ideas from the conversation home with me. On the day of the appointment I get up at five o’clock, finish the drawing, and lay it on the table in front of the customer by 11 o’clock with the words "this is what we’re gonna do today".
In most cases this process is the most effective and the best, up till now it’s always worked. Then I create a stencil, or blueprint, the imprint of the drawing - if anything else is changed, I do this with the customer.
I don’t send him anything in advance. If the customer has the chance to sleep on it, he will always find something he wants to change, his opinion will influence. Then it is no longer what it is. The customer's opinion has no place at this point because he is not the one who makes the tattoo. He has an idea, and I'm there to serve his imagination with that what I can sell.
So it is for you very important to implement your ideas in your style?
Preferably, yes. I take the customer into consideration. But I try to remain faithful, that it is my stroke, my colour, my implementation, my placement, etc.; the whole composition. First I create an impression on the skin. Then follow lines, shading and colour. Then I send the customer home with instruction to wash the tattoo, allow it to air, and to take good care of it. If he doesn’t care for it well, I'm angry, as it means my work was for nothing.
