Translation - English Dear colleague,
Multi-disciplinary workshop on animal-inspired robotics
We have great pleasure in inviting you to a workshop on bio-inspired robotics, to take place in the [INSTITUTION NAME] from the [DATE], timed to coincide with the [NAME] work group meeting, and those of other European projects. The workshop will be a landmark in the rapidly expanding field of an alternative robotics that is inspired not only by engineering, physics and the information sciences, but also by biology. All disciplines working on animal models of locomotion, perception, and sensory-motor co-ordination as they bear on the great problem of robot autonomy are welcome. The following is a non-exhaustive list of themes that we envisage unfolding over the three days of the workshop:
Terrestrial locomotion: slither like a snake
Aerial locomotion: fly like an insect
Underwater locomotion: swim like a fish
Bio-inspired sensors: see like a fly
Neuro-inspired motor controllers
Energy efficiency and innovative actuators
Submissions of posters and abstracts are cordially invited. These will be presented orally at the meeting, and considered for publication in a special review after the event. Proposals for practical demonstrations of robots are also welcome. A tank is available onsite for swimming robots, as are other necessities for the deployment of robots. The deadline for all submissions is the [DATE].

Experience
Years of experience: 14. Registered at ProZ.com: Jan 2011.
Translator from French to English. Editor of English texts. Coach.
I trained and worked in the UK as a doctor, working for 12 years as a general practitioner in inner city practices in London, after 11 years of medical studies and hospital training. I combined medical practice with journalism, most notably as an editor at the British Medical Journal for a period of 7 years.
In 2010 I founded Cabinet Beezer, a translation and editing bureau serving both local academics and international agencies. I enjoy the interest and variety of general translation work. My experience as a doctor makes me the translator of choice for many francophone authors who seek publication in journals of international repute. My new home town of Nantes finds itself at the epicentre of the French energy transition, and I have relished my acquisition of experience in the expanding field of the renewable energies, as well as editing many engineering and robotics articles. I am a partisan for open access to the scholarly literature, and have closely followed developments in scientific publishing since the inception of the web.
My work has included:
* numerous translations of medical and psychological case records for translation agencies;
* translating and/or editing numerous articles for international publication;
* translating the Pays de la Loire Region's marine renewable energies press releases;
In addition to paid work, I do volunteer translations of significant local publications in aid of various local movements and associations.
