I am a Turkish national currently based in Dublin, Ireland. Until now I have had various experience as a translator and editor besides some other responsibilities I had in different fields. My main area of expertise is in subtitle translating but I have also translated various texts in the field of art, economics and business. I have worked as a subtitle translator for the International Istanbul Film Festival for over ten years and I still continue translating subtitles for a company that produces DVDs. I have worked as a part-time or freelance translator for some other organizations and publications, and all my full-time positions also involved some level of translating or editing. For instance, between 2000 and 2001, I have been part of the editorial team of an Internet portal project started by a private bank in Turkey. My responsibilities involved research, translation and placement of daily economy and technology news articles as well as setting the general language rules for the whole content of the portal and contributing to other parts of the portal with other written content. In 2005, I worked for the International Istanbul Biennial, where I was responsible for the editorial work of the biennial website content and coordination of the translations for artist works. My role was to act as an intermediary between the translators, designers and technical staff. Besides my translation experience I am also a writer myself, contributing to different art magazines both in Turkish and English. All my experiences in different fields helped me gain good language skills, ability to plan and multi-task according to deadlines, and be detail oriented and precise.
