Translation - English SUMMARY
Microcrystalline arthropaties are inflammatory pathologies induced by a cellular reaction to the deposit of crystals in the joints; they result from the combination of systemic and local factors. Myophaties are characterized by the abnormal condition of the skeletal muscles characterized by weakness, consumption and histological changes; these have multiple causes and they bring about problems in the muscular tone and contraction with different degrees of severity, such as the "inflammatory myophaties" triggered not only by endogenous but also exogenous factors.
In the search of an anti-inflammatory therapy free of the adverse effects caused by the NSAID (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug), it is proposed a treatment with a low-power laser, such as the Helium- Neon (He-Ne).
The anti-inflammatory effect of the He-Ne laser was studied in experimental models of artrophaties induced by Hydroxyapatite crystals and calcium pyrophosphate in laboratory rats, in different periods of time, determining plasma inflammatory markers and of oxidative stress: fibrinogen, L-citrulline, nitric oxide (NO) and nitrotyrosine, histomorphologic study and comparison with NSAIDs.
120 female rats were used, distributed in 15 groups. The artrophaty was induced by intraarticular injection of 2mg of Hydroxyapatite crystals or calcium pyrophosphate in the back limbs. In one group crystals were injected during a period of three consecutive days and in another group during two weeks (every other day). The He-Ne laser treatment was carried out for 3 consecutive days on the affected joints in the first group and for 5 days in the second group. The treatment with NSAIDs : 1.25mg/day/rat of diclofenac and meloxicam; and 0.05mg/day/rat of celecoxib and rofecoxib individually in three occasions every 24 hours after injecting Hydroxyapatite. The histology was performed with optical microscopy. The determination of markers was done with spectrophotometry; and ANOVA -Fisher test ( p
