General background
- I am a MA qualified freelance translator with over nine years’ full-time experience translating a wide range of documents from English into my mother tongue Estonian. I am also available for interpreting (both consecutive and simultaneous) and proofreading.
- I have lived and worked in the United States and currently reside in Estonia, and have thus developed a good feel for both cultures, which is beneficial when it comes to understanding some finer nuances of source and target documents.
- I was employed for over four years by an Estonia-based translation agency, where I worked as a Project Manager and in-house translator. This experience provided me with an invaluable insight to the world of translation, besides refining my research, QA and time management skills.

Areas of expertise
- Education / Pedagogy – with a BA in Educational Sciences, I have translated and proofread a number of educational articles, CVs and project overviews for several institutions of higher education.
- Textiles / Clothing / Fashion – I have six years’ experience translating for the major Estonian fashion retailer, and am very well versed with the related terminology. Texts have included: web content, training materials, product labels, sales arguments, etc.
- Medical / Health Care – I developed my first-hand knowledge and interest in the area after having worked as a translator and interpreter in a year-long project aiming to educate professional physiotherapists. My more recent projects include translating web content and marketing materials for one of the leading Baltic pharmaceutical companies, as well as marketing materials and product descriptions for dental associations and providers of dental care both in Estonia and elsewhere.
- Business /Commerce – general business correspondence, job descriptions, employee surveys, market overviews, press releases
- Marketing – marketing materials and press releases for a wide spectrum of clients ranging from bathroom design to technical equipment, catalogues, PPT presentations, sales arguments, product descriptions, banners

Rates are negotiable, depending on volume, complexity and urgency of the text. I am also able to accept translation tests, free of charge, that do not exceed 200 source words.
