Source text - English British film writer Peter Morgan has an eye for a dramatic human tale. Writer of critically-acclaimed Frost/Nixon and The Queen, he has now turned his eye to the world of Formula 1™. Directed by Ron Howard who had also worked on Frost/Nixon, Rush is the high octane story of rivalry, ambition and affection between two men who approached racing with very different styles but with a shared passion.
The film posed many challenges, not least of which was how to bring some of the remarkable race scenes to life in a realistic way. The production team was able to gain access to 24 of the original Formula 1™ cars, liaising with the collector-owners and negotiating some very complex insurance arrangements. Producer Andrew Eaton recalls the effect this collection had on set. “There was huge excitement amongst the crew. Some of these cars were unique and of their time; for example it was the first time that the two six wheeler Tyrrell P34s had been seen together since 1976.” Attention to detail was critical to ensure authenticity.
Translation - French Le scénariste britannique Peter Morgan sait imaginer des histoires
humaines saisissantes.
