I started as a translator in 1992 and as a consecutive interpreter in 1995. A five years’ working experience in the financial sector and a 6 years’ stint as a project manager at an international organization was being combined with some translation and interpretation work.
I am a sworn (certified) translator/interpreter (Dutch/English-Chinese) for the Courts of First Instance in Belgium.
Over the years, I have worked on different assignments to a large number of international organizations, government organs as well as private companies in the areas of economic and legal affairs, defense, culture, science and technology. Hence, I have met directly with people in various influential positions of decision-making as the Minister President of Flanders, the Chinese Ambassadors to Belgium and the EU, several Chinese and Belgian ministers, governors and mayors. I also encountered and mediated for lawyers, judges, inspectors, CEOs and various specialists and technicians on the production line.
Since 2006 I started with simultaneous interpretation. My experience mainly focused on economic affairs, bank and insurance, cultural and environmental issues. Most recently, I was one of the simultaneous interpreters at the EU-Asia/China Summit 2010 that was held in Brussels and at the Antwerp China Forum and International Diamond Conference in 2011.
