English to Polish: The Maximum Data Rate of a Channel -> Maksymalna przepływność kanału General field: Science Detailed field: IT (Information Technology)
Source text - English
Nyquist proved that if an arbitrary signal has been run through a low-pass filter of bandwidth H, the filtered signal can be completely reconstructed by making only 2H (exact) samples per second. Sampling the line faster than 2H times per second is pointless because the higher frequency components that such sampling could recover have already been filtered out. If the signal consists of V discrete levels, Nyquist's theorem states:
maximum data range = 2H log2 V bits/second
For example, a noiseless 3-kHz channel cannot transmit binary (i.e., two-level) signals at a rate exceeding 6000 bps.
So far we have considered only noiseless channels. If random noise is present, the situation deteriorates rapidly. And there is always random (thermal) noise present due to the motion of the molecules in the system. The amount of thermal noise present is measured by the ratio of the signal power to the noise power, called the signal-to-noise ratio. If we denote the signal power by S and the noise power by N, the signal-to-noise ratio is S/N. Usually, the ratio itself is not quoted; instead, the quantity 10 log10 S/N is given. These units are called decibels (dB). A S/N ratio of 10 is 10 dB, a ratio of 100 is 20 dB, a ratio of 1000 is 30 dB, and so on. The manufacturers of stereo amplifiers often characterize the bandwidth (frequency range) over which their product is linear by giving the 3-dB frequency on each end. These are the points at which the amplification factor has been approximately halved (because log 103 ~= 0.5).
English to Polish: Induction Voltage Regulators -> Indukcyjne regulatory napięcia General field: Tech/Engineering Detailed field: Electronics / Elect Eng
Source text - English
Technical description
The construction of an induction voltage regulator is derived from that of the slip-ring induction motor. The magnetic circuit of rotor and stator is made of the dynamo steel sheets laminations with axial slots around the air gap, uniformly divided on whole the circumference. The input winding is usually (except the regulators with the special XXXXXX connection) embedded in the rotary rotor - for easier supply of input current into the winding (as the input current is usually smaller than the output current). The winding of the induction voltage regulators is mostly two-pole, only exceptionally four-pole winding.
Description of mechanical assembly
a) Double three-phase induction voltage regulators
They are produced in vertical design, every time with separate air ventilation. They consist of two stators, mutually bound with an intermediate stator, and two rotors mounted on a common shaft. The induction voltage regulator stands on the intermediate stator, in which a fan is mounted. On the intermediate stator there is a common terminal board for input and output voltages. On the opposite side there is fitted a terminal board for the servomotor, a fan asynchronous motor and terminals of limit and blocking switches. Into one cover there are mounted the gear mechanism with a hand-wheel and an asynchronous motor, blocking switches and the indicator.
b) Single induction voltage regulators - three-phase and special
Their design is similar to that of double induction voltage regulators. They have only one stator and one rotor.
The regulators are foot-mounted with separate air ventilation. The fan is placed on the cover above the machine. On the same cover there is also the gear mechanism with hand-wheel and indicator. On the stator there is the terminal box for input and output voltages. The auxiliary terminal box for fan motor, servomotor and limit switches is mounted into the second cover. The servomotor is placed on the cover with the gear mechanism on the opposite side of the terminal box. (With older designs the motors for driving the fan and servomotor have their own terminal boards, the same as the blocking switches).

Opis techniczny
Opis konstrukcji mechanicznej
a) Podwójne trójfazowe indukcyjne regulatory napięcia
b) Pojedyncze trójfazowe indukcyjne regulatory napięcia - trójfazowe i specjalne
(W starszych konstrukcjach silniki napędzające wentylator i serwomotor mają własne tabliczki zaciskowe, te same co wyłączniki blokujące).

Far too late have I begun to love you, beauty, how old you are, and at the same time how new, far too late have I begun to love you.
You were inside me, I was outside, and I searched you, a seeing blind, far from myself, spilt like water, I ran away from you and got lost among so much beauty that is not you.
Then you called and shouted, you broke apart my deafness. Eye-blinding you appeared for to chase my blindness to flight. Fragrantly you came and I took breath, and still I grasp for breath and for you.
I tasted you and since then have been thirsty and hungry for you. I, having been slightly touched, was lit by your light. And now I am aflame towards you, towards peace.
Thanks go to Stichting Leerhuis & Liturgie, Amsterdam, for their permission to use the German text version as text of the composition in 2006.

Wtedy zawołałaś i krzyknęłaś, przełamałaś moją głuchotę.
Skosztowałem ciebie i odtąd byłem spragniony i zgłodniały ciebie. Ja, lekko dotknięty, zostałem rozświetlony przez twoje światło. I teraz płonę ku tobie, ku pokojowi.
