I am a 5-year-professional interpreter and translator. I have joined proz because I wish to contact more clients, used to work with translators, and also meet new colleagues.
I have graduated in interpreting and traslation in Spanish, English and French at the Central University of Venezuela (UCV). Spanish and Italian are both my mother tongues. I have learnt French and English in my childhood and brushed them up while I was studying at the university.
As an interpreter I have fully worked in areas such as: social, economics, politics, military, diplomatics, international organizations, at the high level mainly, and in all ways: simultaneous, consecutive, liason and whispering.
As a translator I have worked in the following areas: maritime, shipping, engineering, medical (general), law (general), urbanism, architecture, surveying, journalism, and philosophy.
About my life experience. Since I was a child I had the wonderful opportunity to live in different regions of the world, namely Europe and South America. Different countries have meant home to me: Italy, Switzerland (Suisse Romande, French region), Venezuela, and frequent long travels to the USA. For 3 years now, I am living in Barcelona, Spain. Here, interpreting jobs are rare, and you may find occasionally jobs as for translation. I spend my time working as a tourist guide on a 2-deck-tourist bus. Tourism is quite the only field not affected by the economic crisis rueling in today's Spain.
During the last year, I have worked in a litterary project, with a Belgian writer, and took the responsibility to do the Spanish version of one of his books. It was a great job. Today, I am still working with him and I am charged of translating his blog in Spanish, and I work with other clients mainly in software localization and port workers' trade unions.
Willing to cooperate with you in the near future! |
