Source text - English “At one show there was this little girl, sitting on her mothers lap on one of the closest seat to the stage. When I enter, I come from above, and everything is in black light. The only thing clear to me is anything white. Everything else is still, except the hands of this little girl, that is waiving eagerly and innocently at me while her head is turned up to face the sky. I could not help but smile. That moment makes me think of the impact we must have on small children and young adults. It must be very special to experience such a cavalcade of impressions, vivid colors and emotional roller coasters. We are the inspiration and we need to be the role models for the next generation.”

When I arrived in Japan I promised myself that I would pick up a Martial Art of some kind. One of my Samurai colleagues recommended a dojo near the theatre that teaches Aikido. I signed up one day and started going regularly. Aikido has very deep roots in Japan and the training is very traditional. Every class begins with bowing at the entrance to the dojo and ends with the students scrubbing the floors on their hands and knees. Studying Aikido has been a beautiful experience since arriving in this country.
Jordan Deitcher
Associate Head of Rigging
“The most beautiful encounter was that I met our artists at Narita airport to welcome them. It was the first day I worked at Cirque. I didn’t know and couldn’t expect what happened on my first day. I just followed my boss and found myself at Narita Airport. The moment I recognized what I had to do at the airport, I was little surprised but I was really happy to welcome them at Narita, at the very beginning of ZED in Japan. I said “Welcome to Japan” to the artists and also said to myself “Welcome to Cirque myself!” It was the memorable day.”

The Zed universe is made of three part's, the sky, the land, the under world. While this is just part of the story, after working here for some time I notice that we all are living this story. Above the stage is the area called the matrix, where all the aerialist and riggers spend most of the show, on stage level are the acrobats and technicians, and then there is the pit under the stage full of artist. Like in the story of ZED we all unite for one purpose, we are not only telling the story, we are living it!

Artist, high wire
I have been working with Cirque du Soleil since 1995 on the touring shows division with different productions but “ZED” is my first experience on a resident show. One of the most beautiful things I had the pleasure to witness was the organic evolution of the merging of two complete different professional cultures. Cirque came (so did I) with the knowledge about our products and the Japanese team added: commitment, ownership, passion, ATTENTION TO DETAIL, hard work and a hunger for knowledge that I have never seen before. We soon realized that our way (CDS) have worked in the past but we were having a priceless opportunity in front of us to learn, grow, and find even better ways of operating our shows by keeping an open mind and being as diverse as anyone can be.
Mika Ono
Assistant to the Operations Production manager
ZED is my first show I had been involved from the production period. I did several other Cirque shows before but never experienced the very moment. I made so many wonderful encounters. One day I just found that famous all-star creators who made my favorite Cirque show walking around our office and they were even friendly to me ( It sounds I am a big fan of Cirque show….and yes I am!). Also, another great encounter was to meet new people from the other part of the globe never stops inspiring me and feel I still don’t know many things.

Congratulations to ZED team !

August 2009
I hope you are all having a terrific summer. During the first half of 2009, I was very pleased to be able to share many great successes with all of you. Our accomplishments have not only allowed us to deliver against our 2009 business plan, but they were also instrumental in our return to positive growth. So far, the second half of 2009 is proving to be equally exciting and I am confident that with continued focus and innovative thinking, we’ll maintain this momentum through to the end of the year.
I am thrilled to announce that INVEGA* (paliperidone), has just been listed on both the Ontario Drug Benefit Formulary (ODBF) and British Columbia’s PharmaCare program. These listings will remove a significant economic barrier to treatment, which will make a positive difference in the lives of individuals with schizophrenia. This is a tremendous accomplishment for a number of people in our organization who have worked tirelessly to secure access to INVEGA since it entered the market in 2007. Thank you and congratulations to everyone who helped make this happen.
Later this month, our sales force will be participating in an exciting event that will showcase some terrific innovation that has taken place over the last several weeks. The sales force has been divided into regional teams, tasked with using the innovation framework to promote a vacation destination in Canada for travelers to visit after the 2010 Vancouver Olympics. This initiative presents a great opportunity for cross-collaboration, teamwork and healthy competition across the different sales teams. Furthermore, the exercise of solving a non-pharma related challenge is a great way to learn more about the innovation framework and the value it can bring to the work we do every day. Each team will present their ideas during the National Sales Meeting at the end of the month and I look forward to seeing what great ideas have been generated. We will be sure to share the results with the rest of the organization after the event.
I want to thank all of you for your contribution towards our continued growth. The enthusiasm you apply to our challenges and opportunities is extremely impressive. I am confident that I will have many more successes to share with you as we move forward.
