I have recently started work as a freelance translator from
French, German and Italian into English (my mother-tongue) after 30
years activity in business, operating in all the previous languages
as working tongues on a daily basis.
I have a degree in Modern Languages (French and German) from
Oxford University. and am a Member of the Chartered Institue of
Linguists in London. I perfected my Italian during a total of
eight years living in Italy, three of them while running a sales
office in Milan. I have worked in a variety of sectors of industry, all with a
technical bias: agricultural machinery, marine leisure, contruction
and mining equipment and hygiene equipment – all of them in all of
my major languages Of course, as part of my function in export sales, I have in
effect functioned as an in-house translator and interpreter, acting
as an intermediary between non-English speaking distributors and the
