Subjects will be in one of three treatment groups (DU-176b High Exposure, DU 176b Low Exposure, and warfarin) as shown in Table 11.1. Eligible subjects will be stratified by CHADS2 score and by factors requiring DU-176b dosage adjustment (moderate renal impairment, concomitant verapamil, or concomitant quinidine) at randomization as described in Section 3.1.1. In the DU-176b High Exposure group, subjects without any factors requiring DU-176b dosage adjustment will receive 60 mg qd. In the DU-176b Low Exposure group, subjects without any factors requiring DU-176b dosage adjustment will receive 30 mg qd. In both DU-176b groups, subjects with one or more of the factors requiring DU-176b dosage adjustment will receive halved regimens (30 mg qd for the DU-176b High Exposure group and 15 mg qd for the DU-176b Low Exposure group).

Although subjects will be in one of three treatment groups, most analyses and summaries will include four treatment regimens in the following three comparisions:

" DU-176b "30 mg qd allocated" vs. warfarin.
Additionally, exploratory analyses will be performed for the DU-176b 15 mg qd (dosage-adjusted subjects in the DU-176b Low Exposure group) and 60 mg qd (non-dosage-adjusted subjects in the DU 176b High Exposure group) regimens. The relationships between treatment groups and treatment regimens are illustrated in Table 11.2.
For all the endpoints adjudicated in a blinded manner by the CEC, the analyses will be based on the CEC's interpretation. The Investigator's interpretation will be summarized for completeness purposes only.
