Source text - Spanish Cuando comenzaba la última década, los políticos franceses, todos ellos, fuera cual fuera su afiliación ideológica, declararon abierta, en las negociaciones donde se fijaron para los años siguientes las reglas del juego del comercio mundial, la batalla de la excepción cultural contra Estados Unidos, e invitaron a todos los países europeos a unirse a Francia en el lado inteligente de la barricada. Su dinámica dialéctica era refinada y contundente, un proyectil amasado con sentido común y olfato para trazar con antelación las rutas del futuro en materia tan delicada, viva y frágil como es el cine y el vasto conglomerado del audiovisual, del que el cine tira y en el que ejerce funciones de locomotora del viejo tren del arte contemporáneo por excelencia, el arte de la imagen en movimiento, que en Europa, con excepción de Francia, apenas si puede avanzar, bloqueado como está en los pocos y estrechos caminos que le deja abiertos el colonialismo estadounidense en esta materia. Es, nada menos, la materia de la libertad de cada idioma y cada cultura para elaborar y extender por el mundo una imagen propia. Todos los políticos franceses están apiñados alrededor de la idea de que el cine europeo ha tocado los bordes de la extinción y es urgente poner en marcha un entramado de medidas destinadas a frenar el dominio abrumador de las redes de distribución de películas de Hollywood en el mercado europeo. Es, para ello, imprescindible dar al cine y a toda su escolta audiovisual la consideración de materia cultural y sacarlo con el paraguas de la idea de excepción del juego de los poderes y contrapoderes que gobiernan los mercados. El cine no es un tractor, sino otra cosa que necesita otro tipo de gasolina para funcionar. El audiovisual es un asunto demasiado importante para dejarlo a merced de la iniciativa privada. Han pasado diez años de aquello y el resultado es visible en las aceras y en los neones de las fachadas de nuestras ciudades. El cine de Hollywood sigue siendo dueño de ellas en toda Europa, salvo obviamente en Francia. La predicción era por tanto exacta y las medidas ideadas para evitarla, las adecuadas. Pero nadie salvo ellos las adoptó. En España aun está fresca la tinta de las palabras que el secretario Cortés pronunció hace tres o cuatro años con aires de petulante autosuficiencia: "No interesa a España la excepción cultural", es decir, no nos interesa declarar al cine lo que realmente es, cultura. Y añado yo por mi cuenta: que así declaramos mendigo al cine español y dejamos que se alimente con el mendrugo que le eche la mano caritativa de Hollywood, lo que es una condena a la indigencia perpetua.	Translation - English In the early 1990s, during negotiations to set the rules of the game for international trade and commerce for the years ahead, French politicians, irrespective of their ideological leaning, unanimously declared a war of 'cultural exception' on the USA. They then invited all European countries to join them on the intellectual side of the divide. France’s argument was polished and convincing – an ideological projectile put together with common sense and insight, outlining a vision for the future of the animate and fragile world of cinema and its extended family of audiovisual arts, which wholly deserves to be included in the folds of contemporary art, the art of the moving image, but which in Europe (with the exception of France) can hardly move at all, since it remains wedged in the few narrow corridors open to it in the midst of cinematic American colonisation. It is, no less, a matter of the freedom of every language and every culture to develop and disseminate its own image worldwide. Every French politician fervently believes that European cinema borders on extinction, and that a framework of measures should be implemented as a matter of urgency to put a brake on the overwhelming domination of Hollywood distribution networks in the European market. To achieve this, cinema and its audiovisual cousins have to be afforded the status of Culture, thereby placing in the protected category of cultural exception, untouched by the power games that govern the markets. Cinema and audiovisual art cannot be treated in the same way as a commercial product; it is too important and delicate a creature to be left at the mercy of the private sector. Ten years later and the results are plain to see on the streets and neon facades of our cities. Throughout Europe, Hollywood cinema is still in charge, except of course in France. The predictions were therefore accurate, and the preventative measures appropriate. But nobody except France adopted them. In Spain it was only three or four years ago that the Minister for Culture, Miguel Angel Cortes, pronounced with an air of self-satisfied petulance: “Spain is not interested in cultural exception”, that is to say, we are not interested in accepting cinema for what it really is: Culture. And let me add: in so doing we reduce Spanish cinema to the status of beggar, leaving it to feed off whatever titbits the charitable hand of Hollywood may throw at it, thereby condemning it to a fate of perpetual indignity.

Las sesiones duran aproximadamente una hora, proporcionamos un tambor "Jembe" a cada empleado/a y/o ejecutivo/a y les invitamos a empezar un viaje de exploración musical y rítmica. El factor sorpresa es una clave del éxito. Creating a giant painting, from 6 to 18 metres squared, experimenting with total freedom of expression, style and technique is already fantastic fun, but to successfully manage the outcome is even better. The final result is controlled by a system of movable masks which hide and preserve sections of the fabric. The concept was born in Australia for the "Sydney Esquisse Design Festival 2003". It was called “the TUBE” and won first prize at the festival. Following this, “the TUBE” was invited to the 2004 and 2005 “Art by the Sea” festival in Sydney. In 2005 they did the opening of the summer season in Argeles, France, and in 2007 the “Good Vibes” Festival in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth, Australia. A WORLD OF COLOUR Colour is a crucial element to the success of the project; the image on the fabric is built around the colours chosen during the design stage. We divide participants into two groups, each one painting with a different colour scheme during one session. A third colour may be added to the design (we will take charge of this), to give more visual impact and to support the theme of the event. For events staggered over several days, the fabric will be painted by using one colour scheme per day. Our secret is in knowing beforehand how the painting will look at the end. First everyone designs together the final look of the painting, in keeping with the theme of the event, the corporate image or whatever is decided. Then all that is needed is to let the creative energy flow. The artwork resulting from the collaboration remains unpublished and belongs to your company. Barcelone séduit d’autant plus qu’elle offre aux visiteurs du SONAR des locations d’appartements de vacance de qualité. Le succès du SONAR 2009, a été une véritable bulle d’oxygène dans un contexte difficile pour le marché du tourisme. Apres plusieurs années de croissance ininterrompue, Barcelone vit une année 2009 difficile avec une baisse de fréquentation générale, depuis 2007. I am a freelance translator & editor (Spanish/French > English) with BA (Hons) French & Hispanic Studies (2002, University of Birmingham); MA International Studies (2008, University of Birmingham); and MA Translation & Interpreting Studies (2012, University of Manchester).
