Bio
I am a language industry professional, with experience as an English-Latvian-English, Estonian-Latvian translator and reviser, occasionally practicing simultaneous interpreting, with the respective professional degree obtained at Ventspils University College in 2004. Between 2010 and 2017, I have been mostly working full-time as a translation project manager and coordinator. In 2017/18, I was working on building my own translation company, Technica Translations OÜ, in a team with other industry professionals, while also occasionally providing freelance translation and MT post-editing services.
My previous experience covers translating EU legal acts into Latvian (2003-2005), working for the respective Latvian institution at the time (Translation and Terminology Centre). In addition, I have worked for a year as an in-house copy-editor with a publishing-house, working on non-fiction books and dictionaries, and for three years in an IT company in a position not directly related to translation.
Between 2009 and 2020, I was a freelance translator and reviser with several translation agencies, working with texts of such fields as IT (end-user help files, with some localization experience), legal (agreements) and other.
Between 2011 and 2015, I was a resident of Estonia, accordingly I have become fluent in Estonian and able to provide translation from Estonian.
As of 2017, I am SDL certified with regard to provision of machine translation post-editing services.
Since 2020, I am employed full-time at European Commission and I have stopped providing freelance translation services.
