BACKGROUND
Established in May 1990, EGO Translating Company started out as a language school, teaching languages in St. Petersburg and sending students to England to learn the language on site. As demand grew for translation services, the company diversified into conference interpreting and tour guiding. In 1992, the company's snowballing business dictated the emergence of additional services such as courier delivery, evaluation and notarial certification, as well as structural development.
In 1996, EGO Translating launched a new line of business dealing with industrial projects. As a translator for various industries, the company felt the need for more advanced computer technology to assist with translation. To address this need, EGO Translating implemented a hard- and software system named Transit, which can expeditiously handle large volumes of documentation dealing with specialist industrial terminology, drawings, investment and legal aspects. Industrial translation gradually emerged as one of the company's priorities.
In 2001, the company commenced internal restructuring in a bid to expand and consolidate its stature as a medium-sized business.
Today, the company serves 15 industries, maintaining specialist terminology glossaries for each one.
EGO Translating boasts a client base numbering more than 15,000 businesses in north-western Russia, Moscow, Siberia, the Far East, former Soviet Union and abroad.
The company employs 100 staff and more than 2,000 part-time translators.
In 2002, independent market researchers discovered that EGO Translating holds the largest market share for translation services in north-western Russia.
EGO Translating Company ushered in the new year 2005 as a consolidated team of aspiring professionals ready to cope with ever greater challenges. |
