Originally from Northern Ireland, I have been living and working in France since 1994.
My corporate career spans 18 years working in such diverse and highly technical sectors of industry as:
- naval construction and operational maintenance (DCNS);
- aeronautics and defence electronics (Thales);
- Marine Renewable Energies and the civil nuclear sector (DCNS);
- environment and waste management (Regional Council of Aquitaine);
- wine (Baron Philippe de Rothschild).
I decided at the start of 2012 to devote myself fully to my dream profession - translation - with the creation of LanguageApart. Today, I am specialized in technical translation, proofreading and editing, technical writing and language coaching. In this way, I help internationally-oriented companies and industries develop their activity within a multicultural context, communicate with their clients and partners abroad, and better sell their products and services on the export market.
I hold BA (Hons) degree in European Business Studies from the University of Ulster at Coleraine in Northern Ireland, and a Master's degree in Technical writing and Translation from the University of Western Brittany, France (Master that was awarded the European Commission's EMT quality label in July 2014).
I also hold the following language diplomas recognized by the Council of Europe: the Diplôme Approfondi de Langue Française (DALF), level C2 (Mastery), and the Diploma de Español como Lengua Extranjera (DELE), level B2 (Avanced).
I deal with the following types of texts:
- translation of technical and scientific reports, technical specifications, industrial and business processes;
- technical writing and/or translation of user manuals and technical data sheets;
- writing and/or translation of website content, company and product brochures (sales, advertising, tourism, etc.);
- translation of company magazines, press releases and specialized press reviews;
- translation/proofreading of academic papers (Humanities and Social Sciences).
I am SDL Trados Studio 2011 certified.
