Draft site looks promising 👍 Aug 24

I know it's a lot of work, and I hope it is not a problem for the @ProZ staff to spread the word that - in my opinion of course - the new website in the making has a good chance of being a good one. If all technical issues will be fixed at the same time, it will be great.

Fun Aug 25

I can't think of ProZ without its forums. They are a core piece of the platform imo, many people surely use them without participating actively as a useful source (and sometimes for fun).

They are fun, but I'm pretty sure they will be extremely soon forgotten if they wouldn't be there anymore on the new website. They are basically an endless repetition of the same subjects, animated by the same handful of die-hard users. I'm afraid their significance is next to inexistent.

The best forum software is already there: https://www.discourse.org/index

It’s amazing. Live preview while composing, markup, Markdown, easy quoting, responsive design etc.

More projects and outreach needed Sep 4

I haven't seen a big discussion about new features or concepts needed.
So I think new design it's the change for change's sake.

Dear mikhailo,
dear founding father of the site Henry,
dear colleagues,

for many years I have been a paying member here. Never missed a function on the site. Even using proz.com when organizing a project and getting quotes is great.

What the site is lacking is the number of projects, not design. So Henry could work on this.

And additionally on some kind of leaflet showing the high worth of translations for company PR compared to the speechless generation.

Hope this supports the brainstorming.

And a 100 % agree to mikhailo.

Best regards

Gerd

Call me old-fashioned. But I still prefer XenForo and vBulletin. If I recalled correctly, phpBB is also decent internet forum software.

The team is not building anything from scratch it doesn't have to. Where possible, third party solutions will be used (as has been the case up until now). If I'm not mistaken, Discourse is one of the candidates for forums, by the way.

Have you already had a look at the prototype?
