This is not a viable solution since they represent a major part of the market for many language pairs and not all are able to get direct contact with a client to pitch him according to his price. More so for a starter.

I'm not sure what you meant there. The way I see it Indian, Chinese and London agencies are the cancer plaguing the translation industry. Even if you don't work with them they manage to cramp your style by driving down the prices globally, putting your '15 cent per word paying boutique agencies' out of business. So, in the great scheme of things, not working with them is not a solution, hence my 'final solution'. The world would be a better place without them (for translators of course).

My reply Aug 13

I wrote this reply to an email sent to me by an Indian agency requesting my service at rates lower than those mentioned by the OP:

"I wonder what quality those willing to work with you at these peanut rates would deliver to you."

I added "Probably you will get rubbish; probably you will receive a translation that is not better than the output of any MT/AI program." Then, I deleted it at the last minute because it suddenly occurred to me that there is no need to be so ha

Good for your soul, as bitterness is a poison that won't help. Just stay away in a professional manner.

I get where your coming from. The issue is that these people will even find someone to get their job done at the mentioned rate. Many of their clients do not have a good choice except to accept their translation work due to many playing factors. One such factors is the language pairs. The Indian language pairs will most probably be worked by people of their country (like Urdu, Hindi etc).

I think these translators would probably be making lesser effort as pointed out and taking more tasks as wholesale thereby bringing in more clients to the agency.

Does this kind of workflow work?

I'm well aware that I'm not the only believer in 'final solution' after seeing our mutual friend in Wales liquidated as a result of the treatment he's had at the hands of the Brown Shirts.

...because he still makes advantage of rural Scandinavian boutique agencies paying an extraordinary rate to him (to him alone, I believe), so we two could go on with our 1914-like coalition against those troublemakers in the South-East (of "London"?), who are backed by their cousins in the UK outsourcing cheap jobs to their cheaper relatives into the area made in question by the OP. With the new tunnel dug beneath the Bosporus, I see new chances to advance existing railway lines traditionally via Bagdad right into the heart of the Punjabi, so that backpack translators could visit their debtors in no time and by low costs to finally urge their payments directly from them in person. And bringing your own homes in form of tents will make it easy to afford a comfortable live in that region with the rates stated in the first post. The Brits did it, why not some sort of pioneer translators, until the locals pay better rates to get them rid off again.

The rates people agree to depend on many circumstances Aug 19

Most of us don't know the reality of life in Yemen, could you write a few words about the minimum wage there and how much are necessities like basic food? It would give us some point of reference.

Unfortunately if these indisputably low rates pay more per hour than alternative work in Yemen, there will be people who will accept them.

Best Regards
Stanisław

You are talking about Chris, I suppose. I saw him leaving the building with a frustrated comment. Did I miss something or did he just have enough of this website?

I am just back from a 3 months leave, so what did I miss?
