Discussion

Carol Gullidge Feb 9, 2015:
Well spotted, PatinBA! in the light of this, I feel obliged to re-edit the term back to "Literature"
patinba Feb 9, 2015:
It needs to be read at speed and what you get is someone scanning the paper, mainly the classified ads, a series of services offered, etc. Cobro de documentos is "bill collection", one of a list of services offered by an attorney in an ad sandwiched between an ad for a housekeeping couple and a dry-cleaners. The category needs changing back to Literature, Carol, whatever your opinion of it.
neilmac Feb 9, 2015:
TL, DR = Too Long, Didn't Read. Had to copy and paste it to find the query phrase. Impossible to discern its meaning anyway, due to lack of coherent context. I'd venture that NOBODY can understand it.
AllegroTrans Feb 9, 2015:
It's slightly reminiscent of "Under Milk Wood" (Dylan Thomas)....
amelie08 (asker) Feb 9, 2015:
In which website do u see it?
Carol Gullidge Feb 9, 2015:
@ Asker Oh dear, poor you! I do hope you don't have to translate the whole book! This passage is certainly untranslatable, imo! But then, I can't believe that you'd agree to translate a whole book written like this!

And maybe in the circumstances, I was wrong to edit the fields?
Carol Gullidge Feb 9, 2015:
@ Juan it was originally posted as a "Poetry and Literature" question! And I agree with Charles that the text does lapse into the sort string of non sequiturs often seen on Google searches, and which I think can safely be dismissed as some sort of scam
amelie08 (asker) Feb 9, 2015:
This is a part from the book. It is impossible for me to understand it.
Liliana Lopez Feb 9, 2015:
Indeed this seems an internet page just copied and pasted and with the original format removed... the line being questioned seems part of some kind of classified ad.
AllegroTrans Feb 9, 2015:
Not poetic and not coherent I cannot make out what this document is. At one point it reads, conceivably, like a power of attorney, at other points it is nonsensical. So translating "cobro de documentos" is really a guessing game. Asker, perhaps you need to query with your client exactly what is expected of you.
Charles Davis Feb 9, 2015:
Not poetic, exactly Just bizarre. Purple at first, and then five or six lines in it veers into complete incoherence, with "farmacias de turno gracias espíritu santo por los favores recibidos matrimonio con buena presencia se ofrece para encargado de casa". It reads like the kind of corrupt text you come across quite often on the Internet. Why translate it? Well, it's none of my business.
Juan Angel Garzon Feb 9, 2015:
Was this entry supposed to be poetic??
Carol Gullidge Feb 9, 2015:
wrong field this is far from poetic, and nor can it be classed as literature.

For the time being, I've changed it to Other and Marketing, but I'm sure there must be something more suitable. Law?
Juan Angel Garzon Feb 9, 2015:
Let's see. "Cobro" is "to collect" or "receive" an amount of money that in indebted. "documentos sucesorios", those paperwork related to inheritance, so it could be "the collection of inheritance document duties/fees/taxes/" or something very similar. Regards.

Absolutely! No doubt at all. LatAm literature tends to be like that, perhaps one needs to be more attuned to it. See Discussion Entry for an explanation. BTW, ´tis a model of clarity compared to James Joyce :)
