Spanish term

relación normal de grasa pielocalicial a parénquima renal

Spanish to English Medical Medical: Health Care Puerto Rican autopsy report
From Puerto Rican autopsy report. It's the preposition that's killing me.
I can translate pyelocaliceal fat (although it doesn't seem to be a term of art) and renal parenchyma. I don't understand a "ratio" of pyelocaliceal fat to renal parenchyma.

The entire sentence reads: "Al corte existe buena definición córtico medular y relación normal de grasa pielocalicial a parénquima renal."

medullary fat You might find more insight if you searched for texts on 'medullary fat'.
Anne Schulz Dec 25, 2019:
"Ratio" refers to the relative thickness of renal cortex (renal parenchyma) and medulla (pyelocalyceal). It is a typical measure in ultrasonography, but one could certainly determine this ratio on a pathology section just as well as on an ultrasound section image.

normal correspondence between pelvicalyceal [renal sinus] fat and surrounding parenchyma

Creo que el original no expresa un ratio sino la relación (normal) de la grasa pielocalicial (pelvicalyceal fat; más concretamente renal sinus fat) con el parénquima renal adyacente.

Located around the renal pelvis and ureter (in the renal sinus) there is often fat. This is unilocular (white) adipose tissue.

The possible causative mechanisms include pressure atrophy of renal parenchyma by expanding renal sinus fat, invasion of renal parenchyma by fat and fatty replacement after atrophy of renal parenchyma.

Sobre cómo traducir, no lo tengo tan claro.

invasive transitional cell carcinoma—stage III or IV—obliterates the renal sinus fat and infiltrates into the surrounding parenchyma

Entiendo que se hace referencia en el original a esta relación/transición entre la renal sinus fat y el surrounding/adjacent (renal) parenchyma.

Así, por ejemplo,

relación normal de grasa pielocalicial a parénquima renal

(...) normal [relation of / correspondence between] renal sinus fat / pelvicalyceal fat and renal parenchyma

... normal correspondence between renal sinus fat and surrounding parenchyma
