: I have only ever heard of these as kidney dishes/trays in the US. But I suppose it depends on the context. Medical personnel may use emesis basin, but not the average person on the street.

I know from personal experience that, at least here in the UK, they're called "kidney dishes" by medical staff, though I think the technically correct term is an "emesis basin".
