No, these alerones are musculotendinous Here's the definition from the the Real Academia Nacional de Medicina dictionary:

alerón rotuliano [ingl. patellar retinaculum]
1  [TA: retinaculum patellae] Cada una de las dos expansiones aponeuróticas, lateral y medial, de los músculos vasto externo y vasto interno, que, a modo de refuerzo capsular, se fijan en la tuberosidad tibial y en el borde correspondiente de la rótula, manteniéndola centrada durante el movimiento de flexoextensión de la rodilla.
SIN.: aleta rotuliana, ligamento alar, retináculo patelar, retináculo rotuliano.

I think they are referring to the bone The lateral retinaculum is the tissue that helps hold the patella in place, but the "wing" or "alerón" is the bony border itself.

"Alerón" is a beautifully descriptive term! You'll sometimes find this structure translated as the "lateral wing" in texts written by native speakers of Spanish, so that's one trap to avoid.

lateral border of the patella

The vastus intermedialis muscle is attached to the base of patella. The vastus lateralis and vastus medialis are attached to lateral and medial borders of patella
