Spanish term
expediente
Spanish to English
Law/Patents
"Extendida inmediatamente la presente acta en el Libro de Registro de matrimonios llevados en este tribunal, se leyó a las personas que deben suscribirla...."
From a Venezuelan marriage record.
The term also appears earlier in the document in a slightly different form: "...el acta...que hizo extender el Juez de este distrito en el expediente de carteles...".
I think in the first context it would be "entered", as opposed to issued. And in the second context it could be translated as "issued".
Can anyone clarify my hazy thoughts? Thanks.

"Expediente" only appears in the second phrase, and means "file".
"Extendida" in the first phrase means "drawn up OR issued".

By the way, in the second phrase, \"extender\" can mean the same as the past participle used in the first phrase.
