: Central ? not whether witness knows if s/he can be held liable, but if s/he knows the penalty (conozco la sanción). Why leave out “admite”? “False declaration” is awkward and/or pompous. “Liable” is interesting.

: This is the way I would write it: I acknowledge that I am aware of the penalty to be imposed on me in the event I should make a false statement and commit the crime of perjury.
