Spanish term

no producen convicción

Spanish to English Law/Patents Law (general) demanda por alimentos

I think "no producir convicción" means that "evidence is not strong/solid enough" to convince the judge to rule for/against the defendant, but I'm not sure how to render the idea in legal jargon.

Thanks for your help!

@ Lory & Allegro Thank you for your comments!
AllegroTrans Mar 23, 2011:
@ Lori We also use "the claimant's/defendant's claim is rejected" (just as often as your version)
Lorraine Bathurst Mar 23, 2011:
instead of rule for/against.. We usually use 'the judge finds in favour of' the claimant/defendant
The person in favour wins the case.

are not proven

It is the summing-up and hence final decision of the Judge. After going through all the evidence, he is ruling that the matters set out in the claim are not proven
