Spanish term

alimentar una herramienta/un portal web

Spanish to English Tech/Engineering IT (Information Technology)
Hi everyone,

I have come across this expression, and am confused as to how to render it accurately in English. The 'herramienta' in question is a software tool designed for the exchange of information pertaining to the environment, and is contained on a 'portal' run by a public environmental management body. Here are two sentences in which it appears:

All suggestions are appreciated.

Regards,

Jack

@Denise

Woops, my bad. I entered xxx so as not to reveal the identity of the company in question. I hadn't vouched for the x-rated link! So sorry about that.

Jack

@ Denise Looks very dodgy indeed. I hadn't even opened it.

Link in question Have you seen where the link provided in your question leads? Doesn't seem to have very much to do with the environment. Or is this just another proz.com malware incident?

Thanks, Cristina :)
agree philgoddard : I'd say "feed into" rather than "feed". "Feed a tool" sounds odd.

Thanks, Phil - I know it sounds odd but it's used like that.

agree neilmac : In this context, "data to feed this tool" sounds OK to me too.
