Spanish term

apercibimientos

Spanish to English Bus/Financial Finance (general) national securities market

I know this word is in the glossaries already, but I can't figure out in this context whether it woudl be "warnings", "sanctions", "cautions"
Grateful in advance for help.

Thks Thanks for your input
TravellingTrans Nov 10, 2014:
@marcom4 subpoena does not have to be issued from a court, it simply has to be issued from a body which has the authority to subpoena. In this case "la Comisión Nacional del Mercado de Valores (CNMV)" issued what could be translated as "subpoenas" (as a body with authority to do so) to the listed Spanish companies, which summons them and provides and issues a warning as to what will happen if they fail to comply with their obligations.

It is acting as a warning but it is a type of subpoena, so it's a valid possible translation.

Subpoenas do not only get issued by judges of courts:

SEC Files Lawsuit to Enforce Subpoenas Issued to Congress (this is not a court, it is basically the US version of the CNMV, the two bodies are very similar).
Legislative Subpoenas - National Conference of State Legislatures

Any body with the authority to issue a subpoena may do so.

TravellingTrans Nov 10, 2014:
also subpoena = citación judicial; apercibimiento; comparendo

warning notices

The SEC issued an investor alert warning about possible scams involving marijuana-related investments, noting that fraudsters often exploit the latest growth industry to lure investors with the promise of high retorns

agree Jennifer Levey : Agree with 'alert warning' - or even just 'alert' - as mentioned in your second web-ref.

subpoena

This is technically what an apercibimiento is though the way it functions in Spanish law in this case and what it means relevant to English usage are not always the same, though can be identical.

2. m. Der.

It has the function of serving as a warning, and I don't argue with the validity of such as a functional translation but in this case it might be more applicable to use subponea
