I know 'músico' is pine nuts and raisins, but what's 'banda'?
I presume it's a play on 'musician and band' but what does the actual 'band' refer to?

Really not sure about this, as I've never heard of "postre de músico" to start with. However, having read the recipe in the first link below, it occurred to me that they might be referring to "accompaniment"; in the link below it is accompanied by dessert wine, for example.

Musician and Band
"Banda" may mean both "musical band" or "criminal gang", as in a "banda de narcotraficantes".
Also, a "banda" is just a "bond", asi in a latex bond.

The musician is usually the leading person in the band, the band is the rest of the group for example the drum players all of them together make up the musical band.

If you are using this for a recipe it will mean the rest of the ingredients that make up the whole. The músico would be the primary ingredients and the band would be the rest of the ingredients needed. All together from a group.

It occurs to me that as a "músico" is usually served with Moscatel, there may be a type of Moscatel called "Banda" (not that I've ever heard of one). Alternatively, "Banda" may well be the name of a similar strong drink as an accompaniment.
