Речь полудеревенская, один человек обличает другого в том, что тот совсем спился, от беременной жены ушёл, и т.д. "Тurned into an animal" - это самое лучшее, что я на данный момент придумала. Сперва слово barbaric в голову пришло, но мне кажется оттенок не совсем тот. Если покапаться в значениии слова "Басурман" (всплывает "и застучали барабаны и отступили басурманы") А Ожегов определяет это, как человек, отошедший от общепринятых устоев. Вarbarian, мне кажется, не отражает это значение. Или отражает?

"proper" is common, modern English colloquial slang these days, often replaces "very" or "real/really" so put it on for a bit of colour.
I was going to say "right heathen" but you'll only just have used the word "right"
