I agree with Aurelia. The text most likely refers to a statue depicting the "character" (human-like, if it's holding a vessel) in question.

In my opinion, the character guarding (like a pillar) that balcony is a statue that is part of the architecture. That statue is holding a vessel/vase/bowl. I don't think it's a sailing vessel. It would have helped you to see the picture of that building. In the text it looks like the description of some castle or old building.

Context to figuritive aspect I need to understand where the hypothetical or imaginative context in this is placed, as there are no people involved in this narrative. This text is descriptive/architectural comment, so should be factual references. But, the text mentions another "character", and how is sailing vessel involved? Is this because the writer is trying to fictionally transform the reader to an imagined fantasy in order to evoke the past historical context of the design.? I.e. it is hypothetical for the purpose of sensational description?
Or, have I misunderstood the meaning here.?

"străjuit” is a rather literary, archaic word. It is not used in technical presentations. The rest of the text proves that.

Can you explain what you mean please, as a literary translation of the entire phrase would not work, so I cannot see the use behind "guarded" here. Thank you.
How is it figurative - "Guarded by" would make no sense in English, without a slightly different sentence structure.

That balcony in the text may normally have a pillar, described as a guardian character, descended from remote realms and who embraces some starry vase. It is quite poetic. I can imagine a statue in the structure of that building..ne
