Italian term

Rogazioni gravate

Italian to English Law/Patents Law (general) Criminal
I am translating a document which is sort of like a warrant, explaining the various crimes these individuals committed and how their organization works. More of a report really.
This section is the end of the introduction explaining how they're considered a criminal organization.
This paragraphs just finished explaining how they use their name and the force of intimidation to their advantage, for recovering debts, obtaining loans, undertaking new business activities, finding jobs etc... :

"Insomma, un corollario di rogazioni lecite gravate, però, dall’intervento di un putrescente sistema criminale."

Can anyone tell me how to translate "Rogazioni lecite gravate"?
Legal burdening rituals?

I can only find Rogazioni in the catholic context... as in payers.

Thank you in advance!

… licit requests encumbered however by …

The only meaning of “rogations” is the one you mentioned, the liturgical one.
In translating it by “REQUESTS” I went to the latin origin of “rogare = to ask”.
See below the etymology provided by Garzanti and Merriam-Webster.

rogazione:
1. (spec. pl.) nella liturgia cattolica, rito penitenziale, costituito da preghiere e da una processione, per ottenere da Dio benedizioni per la fecondità dei campi, in parte abolito dal concilio Vaticano II
2. nell’antica Roma repubblicana, proposta di legge presentata per l’approvazione al popolo riunito nei comizi; la legge così approvata
Etimologia: ← dal lat. rogatiōne(m) ‘richiesta, preghiera’.

Origin of ROGATION
Middle English rogacion, from Late Latin rogation-, rogatio, from Latin, questioning, from rogare = to ask

Definition of LICIT: conforming to the requirements of the law; not forbidden by law;
Something went wrong...
