German term
Entdeckungstour

Marketing
Tourism & Travel
Can anyone think of a creative way of putting this? It refers to a tour of the city and is for a touirsm website
Discovery tour sounds too translated to my ears and mystery tour implies something more than a tour of the city. The idea is you can explore and discover more of the city.
Can anyone thing of a neat and succint way of conveying this.
Many thanks.

: It's a stroll. As usual, we have people queuing up here to endorse a standalone solution that takes no account of the asker's actual context.

Yes, I looked at the context and then tried for an inviting sentence. Thank you, Andrew!

sightseeing stroll
Entdeckungstour und Stadtbummel durch die Innenstadt
A sightseeing stroll around the town centre
It's clearly on foot, so Tour = stroll
Entdeckung = discovery = sightseeing
Combine Entdeckungstour und Stadtbummel in one noun. Avoid repeating Stadt in the English ( Stadtbummel ... Innenstadt)

Rephrase (noun > verb):
Discover the sights of xxx on a stroll around the town centre
Policy decision:
You need to discuss with the client whether they wish to be known as a town or city. Primarily, it is a question of size, but there is also a difference between US and UK usage.

I would not use the word 'tour' unless accompanied by a guide as in the first two answers proposed. It sounds to me like the tourism office is simply recommending activities for visitors who have made their own way to town/city xxx and for some reason or other (say they are in a camper van) want to see the sights on foot at their own pace.

discovery tour
I think your original idea about "discovery tour" sounds wonderful.
In this context, it fits quite well.
As a tourist, I would be excited to go on a "discovery tour" of a new city.
Plus, there are plenty examples of "discovery tour" in English:

Just think it sounds a little "lighter" for a touristy text!
