German term
Schuhanzieher

Shoe industry
This refers to a device that assists its user in putting on a shoe. That much is clear. Despite the meaning being obvious, I'm having a challenge rendering it into clear, natural-sounding English. So far I have "shoe donner." OK, but "don" (and "donner" even moreso) is such an uncommon word in English that this sounds obscure. The only other thing I can come up with is the utterly goofy "shoe putter-onner." I don't think that will fly. ;-) So, does English have a substantive form of "something that puts on?" Your ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!

As we don't yet seem to have a name for this gadget, you might as well coin one.

Comment: "Thanks to everyone for helping with this. I ended up coining a generic term, "shoe entry system." I would have probably used "shoe slip-on system" had I received this comment before I had to deliver. In any event, thanks to all for your patience and suggestions!"

Comment: "Unfortunately, this isn't really a shoe horn. I realize that is the normal meaning of Schuhanzieher. But in this case, the word is being used generically as an "object that puts a shoe on." A "shoe horn" is a plastic or metal object, usually scoop-shaped. This device is not that at all, but incorporated into the shoe itself - not even resembling a what people think of as a shoehorn. That's why I'm searching for a more generic rendering into English."

From your answer, that's all I can think of, or is this "the bionic shoe" ?

foot insertion aid
Depending on the context given in the rest of the text, it occurred to me that maybe it would be possible to turn it around a bit and use the term "foot insertion aid"?

: not very catchy but until they come up with something patented (which they will, once everyone starts doing it), i think this is a great solution

Discussion
In any event, it was made clear to me that it's not a shoe horn, but part of the shoe itself. I also know that it's matierial, not mechanical (so much for the bionic shoe!).
I can't think of a great translation into Swedish either - the most clear and obvious would be "skopsttare" but that has some really humorous sexual connotations.
As for the question if there are boot straps: This could very well be a strap of some sort, because, according to the doc, after it is used it is not visibly detectable even though it is part of the shoe.
Thanks again for the suggestions - sorry I can't explain any better.
