towns gas
coke oven gas would be rather impure containing benzene/toluene/xylene and other organic volatiles that can be used for commercial purposes instead of being burned.I suggest that the gas finally being used is more of a blend of aliphatic hydrocarbons.and would also be used for domestic use.Hence your elaborate tesing procedures.

: Coke oven gas is used 'raw' in the steel-making industry. The flue gas analyzer is used to check the quality of combustion (emissions).
