German term

Sitz

German to English Medical Medical (general) psychiatric/physical eval
This is a doctor's evaluation of a mystic (Therese of Konnersreuth) in the early 20th century. The use of "Sitz" here baffles me. It has nothing to do with sitting, chairs, or the location of an institution:

Daß die Lähmung der Therese eine ausgesprochen hysterische war, geht aus der Art der Entstehung, dem Sitz und der Ausbreitung der Störung ganz unzweifelhaft hervor.

My draft:
That Theresa's paralysis was markedly hysterical emerges logically from its etiology, the setting, and the extent of the disorder.

If this is a stupid question, I will change it to "non-pro." :-)

Thanks!

'origin', 'basis' or 'seat'

In archaic (and even modern) English, 'seat' may be used to denote the basis or origin of a disease:

"We cannot therefore limit the seat of the disease to any one tissue, or ascribe its origin to any modification of structure or special organization, as has been done ..."
books.google.co.uk/books?id=sgxAAAAAcAAJ

"Use of the term hypochondriasis for a state of disease without real cause reflects the ancient belief that the viscera of the hypochondria were the seat of melancholy and sources of the vapor that caused such morbid feelings."

Note from asker:
Thanks! I didn't know that.

location (or seat as suggested above)

loction of a disorder is often used, instead of seat (which is, as noted) often considered archaic
