box with slipcase
Vivisimod did find somethin and one site mentions it, quite clearly, mentionned either oas Halsschachtel or Halsskatenchachtel, with pictures besides. It is a high-class packing box slipcase [Schuber]
Please check the pictures on the following to have a better idea on what it might be http://www.lindner-feinkartonagen.de/Feinkartonagen-Luxuskar...

Comment: "Thank you. I now know what it looks like, but not why it's so named. I shall have to ask an English-speaking manufacturer what he would call a box like that!
I've given you 3 points. Can't give you 4 because I still don't know the English. And to think one reason I left teaching was so I would never again have to grade people's work, which I detest..."

Note from asker:
Thank you. Unfortunately, even this very clear picture gives no hint why the box is so-called. The manufacturer translates it as "neck box", but as, according to Google, no on else in the world uses this term, I have my doubts regarding its utility! |
Discussion
Thank you for the considerable time you have evidently given to my question.
But I am sure that for translation purposes "box with slipcase" will be quite okay. If there is no short and common Enghlish expression, then giving an overly detailed description of the box would probably be overkill. After all, your customer's main aim is not the sale of the box but of the product that is inside!

For all practical purposes it can hardly be anything else than a - admittedly curious - typo for "Holzschachtel".
