worth delaying

The senate could see no further reason to delay the standards verification procedure. It was no longer to their advantage to do so.

Other possibilities with similar import might be "worth forestalling" - i.e. "no longer worth delaying", "no longer worth delaying", "no longer advantageous to forestall", etc.
