German term

gegenläufig

German to English Bus/Financial Investment / Securities
"Selbst die Sicherheitenstellung für Termingeschäfte unterschiedlicher Lieferperiode und unterschiedlichen [type] werden teilweise gegeneinander verrechnet (Cross Margining), sofern in statistischen Analysen gegenläufige Marktpreisrisiken nachgewiesen wurden."

I understand what is meant (roughly, at least) but can´t think how this is said in English. The glossary offers "counterdirectional", but I am not sure this fits here.

offsetting

The terms "to set off" and "offset" are frequently used when referring to margining.

I would translate the sentence like this:
"Even margin requirements for futures transactions [collateral requirements for forward transactions] can be partially set off against each other ("Cross Margining"), provided that there is statistical evidence of offsetting price risks."

The wording is based on the assumption that you're talking about futures, if this is (also) about swaps or other OTC derivatives, I'd use the expression in brackets.

\'countertrending\'. Kind of sounds logical, tho I never saw it used as verb, but \'countertrend\' is common enough. Gonna have it patented
