Discussion

Paul Cohen Sep 2, 2007:
A very interesting question, Cordula, but without any context, all answers are nothing more than a shot in the dark. Who is saying this? What's the situation? What kind of video game? UK or US English? Etc.
Kim Metzger Sep 1, 2007:
Yes, we need some sentences before and after at the very least.
Nicole Schnell Sep 1, 2007:
Are you looking for a beautiful Shakespeare quote or something more colloquial? Or even slangy? I am sure there is SOME context.. Thanks, Cordula!

Well, I'll be (darned) / Imagine that!

w/o context, I'll make a suggestion of the way they say it down here in Dixie.....
Note from asker:
It's really just this sentence - I don't have any more context. I'll fill something in and flag it for my client to take a look at. Thanks!
Peer comment(s):

neutral Paul Cohen : Son of a gun! - I can't believe my eyes! With no context, it's a guessing game.

Stuff happens

The bumper sticker rendition is "Shit happens!"
Peer comment(s):

neutral Paul Cohen : I dare say, there's (usually) a certain amount of dismay (and surprise?) in "Sachen gibt's, die gibt's gar nicht!" - whereas "stuff (shit) happens" denotes a rather fatalistic go-with-the-flow attitude. But what the hell... ;-)

Some things are just too much.

This is one suggestion I can think of which is quite colloquial and could fit depending on the context.
