Kontext: Der persönliche Code ist geheim zu halten. Er darf nicht, insbesondere nicht auf der Kreditkarte, notiert werden. Der persönliche Code darf niemandem, insbesondere auch nicht Angehörigen, Mitarbeitern von ABC, anderen Kontoinhabern oder anderen Karteninhabern bekannt gegeben werden. Bei der Verwendung des persönlichen Codes ist darauf zu achten, dass dieser nicht von Dritten ausgespäht wird.

Gibt es hierfür eine idiomatische Wendung im Englischen?

eavesdrop

Just would use the word "eavesdrop". It is more directed to intelligence and nose around activity. Although it doesn't include the word "see" I would use that.
Other woud be "get possession of", but I think eavesdrop is better.
