German term

jahrgangsübergreifend

German to English Social Sciences Education / Pedagogy
"...in jedem Semester mit acht Promovenden/innen in einen neuen Jahrgang starten"
"Die Arbeitsgruppen können Jahrgangsübergreifend gemischt sein (Mentoring) ..."
This term comes up in various forms in my text. In some cases I've used 'incoming classes', but this does not always fit gramatically.
Would appreciate your suggestions, especially for Jahrgangübergreifend.
Thanks in advance.

Just a couple of ideas -

Work groups are not limited by class year.
OR
Work groups can comprise diverse class years. (age groups)
Note from asker:

German term (edited): Jahrgangübergreifend

irrespective of the (course) year

This is how I understand it - mentoring groups take students from different years.
