Discussion

Le mouvement de concentration est trs fort en Grands Magasins: (this is followed by a table with a column entitled "CA en milliards de dollar" and a second column entitled "poids"; the values entered in these columns correspond to a list of department stores)

The trend for sales to be concentrated in department stores is strong.

Retail sale consolidation trend; they are being sold through department stores rather than through other retail points of sale.

The department store sales concentration trend is strong. Most pithy.

consolidation is rampant in the industry ...

'concentration' is the right French term for 'consolidation'.

Cheers,

agree Karen Tucker (X) : I like "rampant"

neutral Jane Lamb-Ruiz (X) : industry is not department stores...and rampant in department stores in not the meaning inthis case....:)

agree Helen D. Elliot (X) : with "consolidation" as the correct rendering of *mouvement de concentration* However, I would reword the rest of the phrase (not rampant) Cosmetics industry sales are being consolidated in department stores and this is unclear in your phrasing

there is a very strong trend towards recentring/refocusing/clustering

the problem is "concentration of what"? Is in on their core business (whence the above)? Or is it concentrating on targeted groups of products (clustering). or on selected big stores? (concentrating on a few key products/brands)?
A few ideas to conjure with in the hope that when you read through or read further, light will dawn!

Or perhaps \"sales\" are most heavily concentrated.

There is very strong/heightened consolidation of (cosmetics) industry sales in department stores

Just to say I agree with Béa`s rendering but would add "cosmetics" to clarify the industry.

Rampant may be a bit strong, but maybe not ;-)
