French term
décédé saisi des ses droits
French to English
Law/Patents
Law (general)
Estates
Appears in an "attestation de succession" - "Etant precise que Mme X est décédée saisie de ses doits..." (the husband died first, then the wife died a few months later, before the estate had been settled, and thus their only child became the sole heir). Not sure how this would be expressed in English legalese.

: I would like to see evidence that this makes sense to an English-speaking lawyer

It does - I am an English-speaking lawyer (admitted in 1978).

: "It does - I am an English-speaking lawyer (admitted in 1978)" I trust you for the formulation - the meaning is there for sure.

: could she have already inherited the estate if it had not been settled? I am no expert on FR inheritance law, but this seems unlikely

I believe that is possible. Otherwise, administrative delays could change who is entitled to inherit.
