French term

imposent une attitude d'économie d'énergie

French to English Social Sciences Government / Politics
Les rationnements en eau et en électricité dans le pays imposent une attitude d’économie d’énergie et d’eau.

I understand the idea but how can I render this in crisp English?

French term (edited): imposent une attitude d'economie d'energie

require people to be careful in their use of water and electricity

If the choice is between "approach" and "attitude" I'll go with "approach".

French term (edited): imposent une attitude d'economie d'energie

force people to adopt an energy (and water) saving attitude

I think this sounds pretty good. You could use 'energy efficient behaviours' as an alternative.

I'm not really sure why I put brackets for water now. I was thinking in terms of resources and water and energy seemd to come under one. But obviously they are two different things and both deserve to be mentioned.

agree Victoria Porter-Burns : sounds most natural suggestion to me

agree Cath St Clair (X) : This sounds good to me (except I would probably replace "attitude" with "approach")

agree Maudarg (X) : also "approach"

agree B D Finch : Why the brackets? I agree with "attitude", rather than "approach" as the latter is more suitable to problem solving and turning the tap off hardly requires mental effort.

agree Carol Gullidge : I guess you simply added the brackets as "et d’eau" is missing from the term posted...
