Discussion

Bourth (X) Aug 30, 2011:
Are other things on the menu "Jambon blanc frites", "stea(c)k hâché frites", and "pizza margarita", which would suggest this is a children's menu?
Aubergine confite is the intrus, though!
janisct (asker) Aug 30, 2011:
I do wonder whether the document has been converted from a pdf and something has gone awry. Nothing to do with a restaurant in LA!! A Shirley Temple salad sounds absolutely delightful... The link from Roy seems the most plausible - I think it must be a pasta salad.
Sheila Wilson Aug 30, 2011:
Have you discounted a link with the restaurant in Los Angeles?

Shirley Temple

sang about one version of these, in her soup:

As a child, in MY soup, when I knew the above singer as Shirley Temper, I used to enjoy the alphabet variety of these patinettes:

As I keep saying, I don't actually know a lot, but maybe the most important of the few things I DO know is how to use the Internet. That, and that someone loves me.

Actually, it was as "Charlie Temper" that she was known to me as a child.

French term (edited): pâtinette

animal cracker pasta

Also based on the song sung by Shirley Temple here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wNwFXLcrsbc

But maybe more accessible, linguistically, for those who haven't seen Curly Top or the youtube video.

In retrospect, I think I should have posted "animal-shaped pasta"; I may have been overly influenced by the "Shirley Temple" entry and the cute song. ;-)

Right, Roy's link wasn't visible when I posted; in any case, he posted it in the wrong place (KudoZ rule 1.3)
Note from asker:
Thanks for this link - same as the one Roy provided. Yes, it is almost certainly a pasta salad
